About The Position

ICF is seeking a Web Content Specialist with experience in writing and editing, documentation, creating training materials, using presentation software, quality control of data/content, and presenting outreach training. The role involves editing content, managing reviews, and using content management systems (CMS), specifically Drupal 10, to manage agency websites and intranets. Responsibilities include optimizing content for SEO, ensuring compliance with Section 508 accessibility laws, and coordinating the agency's quarterly content certification process. The specialist will also use graphic applications for web image manipulation and coordinate processes and procedures, including database content management through a graphical user interface. Backend programming, Drupal development, module administration, and website configuration are not required, but web experience is essential.

  • 5–7 years of experience in web content management
  • 3 years of experience within the last 5 years in web writing, editing, proofreading, and content quality control
  • Drupal or comparable enterprise CMS experience, preferably Drupal 10
  • Experience with Section 508 web accessibility, including meaningful alternative text
  • Experience with SEO
  • Experience with SharePoint and database content coordination
  • Experience with basic web-image editing and optimization
  • Experience in development of training materials and user documentation
  • Experience with stakeholder coordination
  • Ability to meet short deadlines across multiple concurrent assignments

Responsibilities

  • Create, edit, maintain, and publish content for FHWA Drupal websites, SharePoint sites, research-project databases, and other online platforms.
  • Write web pages, articles, alternative text, user manuals, training materials, and procedural documentation.
  • Coordinate reviews and approvals for content.
  • Monitor content for accuracy and correct broken links and formatting.
  • Support quarterly content certifications.
  • Recommend improvements to readability, organization, usability, and navigation.
  • Apply GPO Style Manual, Chicago Manual of Style, plain-language principles, SEO practices, and Section 508 requirements.
  • Coordinate processes and procedures.
  • Perform database content coordination, entry, editing, sorting, and filtering through a graphical user interface.
  • Use graphic applications to crop, recolor, resize, and manipulate web images.
