About The Position

Our client is seeking a Web Accessibility Consultant to support efforts to create, remediate, test, and maintain accessible electronic documents and forms intended for publication or distribution. The consultant will work closely with internal policy and business teams to ensure electronic documents are developed and remediated in accordance with WCAG 2.1/2.2 Level AA , applicable PDF/UA requirements, document standards, and established digital accessibility practices. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience improving the accessibility and semantic structure of official documents while preserving their substantive content, terminology, legal requirements, and intended meaning.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with WCAG 2.1/2.2 Level AA accessibility requirements.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Word accessibility features , including Styles, Headings, Lists, Tables, Hyperlinks, Images, and Document Properties.
  • Strong experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro , including Tags, Reading Order, Tables, Links, Figures, Document Properties, and Form Fields.
  • Experience creating and remediating accessible fillable PDF forms.
  • Experience performing both automated and manual accessibility testing.
  • Experience using screen readers, particularly NVDA .
  • Experience with accessibility testing tools such as WAVE, ANDI, WebAIM Contrast Checker, or Color Contrast Analyzer.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with PAC, Matterhorn Protocol, or comparable PDF/UA testing methods is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review and remediate policy documents, protocol documents, fillable forms, and other electronic documents for accessibility.
  • Create accessible Microsoft Word source documents and convert them to accessible PDFs when required.
  • Remediate existing PDFs to meet applicable WCAG 2.1/2.2 Level AA and PDF/UA requirements.
  • Create and remediate accessible electronic forms, including form fields, labels, instructions, grouping, tab order, and keyboard navigation.
  • Conduct automated and manual accessibility testing of document structure, reading order, forms, tables, links, images, and navigation.
  • Perform quality-control reviews of remediated documents before publication.
  • Assist with the development and refinement of accessible Word and form templates.
  • Identify recurring accessibility issues and recommend practices to minimize future remediation needs.
  • Ensure accessible documents maintain their original content, terminology, legal requirements, and policy intent.
