About The Position

Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on M240D machine guns and other associated equipment, mounts, squibs, CAD/PAD, and shop support items in accordance with Company Standard Operating Procedures and the PWS. This role involves extensive hands-on work with weapons systems, including cleaning, component replacement, and installation/removal of guns. The position also requires performing flightline functions, documenting maintenance actions, adhering to security procedures, and operating Ground Support Equipment. The mechanic will apply technical expertise to solve complex problems using blueprints and manufacturer's manuals, and may be involved in basic helicopter ground handling. A strong understanding of technical, safety, and environmental issues related to weapons maintenance is essential.

Requirements

  • USAF or equivalent Weapons formal military training required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD secret security clearance.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Recent experience at the 5 level (or equivalent) as a Weapons/Armament specialist (1 year within the last 3 years).
  • Extensive knowledge of Weapons maintenance procedures, troubleshooting, technical publications, special tools, test equipment, and safety procedures required.
  • Weapons qualifications and munitions handling certifications as applicable.
  • Working knowledge of IMDS and other computer programs.

Responsibilities

  • Performs cleaning and corrosion treatment on gun system components.
  • Removes and replaces aircraft installed weapons systems components and equipment.
  • Removes and installs guns.
  • Perform flightline functions including preflight and postflight weapons requirements to include guard duties as directed.
  • Document all inspection and maintenance actions in aircraft forms and IMDS.
  • Follows established armory and maintenance room security procedures.
  • Complies with flightline munitions accountability requirements IAW AFI 21-201.
  • Performs Red X and IPI inspections.
  • Practices good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention, and safety at all times.
  • Applies technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures’ manuals.
  • Performs basic helicopter ground handling procedures such as towing, jacking, refuel/defuel as needed.
  • Operates Ground Support Equipment.
  • Participates in FOD walks.
