About The Position

Alternatives Portfolio Services (APS) offers comprehensive discretionary portfolio construction, management, and implementation services for GS Private Wealth (GS PWM or PWM) clients who are looking to invest in the private markets. APS provides clients with a core, diversified portfolio of alternative investments, leveraging high-quality managers on the GS platform. APS is efficient, customizable, and brings an institutional approach to building a strategic private markets allocation. The APS team sits within Alternative Capital Markets (ACM), part of Asset & Wealth Management at Goldman Sachs. Through ACM, APS offers GS PWM clients access to an open-architecture platform of alternative investments, sourced via the following channels: Principal Investments: Proprietary, flagship strategies managed by Goldman Sachs Asset Management. Our teams invest both client and balance sheet capital across asset classes Manager Selection Strategies: Manager selection strategies managed by the Goldman Sachs External Investing Group, which seeks to identify top-tier GPs investing in opportunities across the lifecycle of companies External Manager Offerings: High-quality external strategies, sourced and structured by the ACM team, offering clients access to a broad platform of custom opportunities Private Placements: A highly curated set of co-investment and direct investment opportunities, sourced via the deep networks of Goldman Sachs and our unique partnerships with external managers APS generally sources investments for client portfolios based on what is broadly available to GS PWM clients through the ACM platform, although may from time to time offer exclusive investment offerings available exclusively to APS and/or a limited subset of clients.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational support to various business lines.
  • Provide support to sales across all aspects of the trade execution life cycle, including new account onboarding, account documentation (OTCs, listed options, etc.), pre-trade suitability & setup checks, and post-trade monitoring.
  • Work with other internal teams including operations, compliance, middle office, legal and wealth management teams.
  • Provide support for situations involving restricted & control stock, including providing Filings support for wealth management teams, relaying execution details to external Issuers for required filings, and working with internal operations and external stakeholders for share clean-up and delivery.
  • Liaise with PWM teams and partner with Client Onboarding Team, Compliance, Legal and Operations to support all aspects of APS client account onboarding and management.
  • Facilitate initial onboarding of client relationships, including providing guidance throughout the Account Opening and initial Master Subscription document completion process as well as liaising with Fried Frank to obtain account approvals.
  • Assist with the accurate and timely booking of trades across multiple alternatives asset classes (e.g., private equity, private credit, private real assets).
  • Process and reconcile subscription activity. Resolve any discrepancies or exceptions in a timely manner.
  • Manage the ongoing processing of all transactions and ad hoc requests related to trade support.
  • Serve as a liaison with various internal departments, including Operations, Engineering, Strats, Controllers, Risk, and Compliance, to facilitate issue resolution and process improvement.
  • Participate in group projects to improve quality and efficiency within the team.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and automate tasks.
  • Manage subsequent account maintenance, including initiating the annual re-attestation process for accounts.
  • Serve as a key liaison for PWM teams to support ongoing account monitoring, for purposes including but not limited to performance reporting, portfolio planning, investment veto tracking.
  • APS marketing and portfolio review conversations with teams and clients.
  • Portfolio management and investment selection review and memo preparation.
  • Liaising with Engineering and Strats to enable continual improvement in APS infrastructure (e.g., Portfolio Management Dashboard).
  • Strategic business building and platform expansion initiatives.
