About The Position

NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn is seeking a Waxer/Stripper to perform housekeeping duties in a hospital environment. The role includes maintaining housekeeping equipment and carts, keeping chemical bottles properly labeled, and completing assigned cleaning procedures. The employee helps maintain a safe and clean environment while prioritizing patients’ needs and working as part of a team.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to operate buffer, scrubber, and shampoo machines.
• Good working history.
• Ability to communicate in English.
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Transport solid waste to designated locations and transport certain hazardous or universal waste from designated hospital locations to the main hospital accumulation area.
• Clean the hospital using materials that may be corrosive, flammable, or toxic in concentrated form.
• Display a positive team effort.
• Remove and dispose of trash, recyclable material, and biohazard waste.
• Perform housekeeping duties whenever called upon.
• Contact departments upon completion of assignments.
• Perform daily duties safely, keeping patients’ needs first.
• Inform the supervisor of potential problems or unsafe conditions.
• Perform job duties without direct supervision.
• Pay special attention to corners, edges, baseboards, and walls.
• Perform carpet care according to procedure.
• Apply finish according to procedure.
• Perform stripping, slower scrubbing, and brushing duties according to procedure.
• Keep equipment clean and chemical bottles labeled.
