About The Position

Howmet Aerospace’s Wichita Falls, TX facility has an opening for Wax B Operator. Wax Cell Operators B’s are responsible for pattern inspection, pattern sub-assembly, mold assembly, including gating into finished molds, pinner/robot, and engraving. Trainees must successfully complete written and practical assessment of skills/knowledge at the end of skills training. This position requires the ability to work 12-hour rotating night shifts, from 6:48 PM to 6:48 AM, on a 2-on, 2-off, 3-on, 2-off, 2-on, 3-off schedule. Pay rate begins at $21.26 and tops out at $25.82 after 9 months. All offers are contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment background check and drug screen. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.
  • This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.
  • Must be able to read and interpret Product Criteria (PC) and Activity Instructions (AI).
  • Must be able to function as a member of a team and be able to work under general supervision.
  • Must be able to maintain expected quality levels.
  • Comply with all site required policies and procedures including but not limited to: EHS, Quality, Code of Conduct and the Wichita Falls Employee Handbook.
  • Must pass Jaeger I eye exam.

Responsibilities

  • Performs inspection of all patterns and decides to accept, repair or scrap the part per documented instructions.
  • Follows established protocol for notification of potential deviations or scrap trends.
  • Performs set-up of dimensional gauges.
  • Dimensionally inspects cores and wax patterns using supplied gauging to specified tolerances.
  • Utilizes the necessary fixturing or gauges to assure dimensional conformance of the pattern/mold to specified tolerances.
  • Prepares sprues as required and locates ceramic bracing per engineering specifications.
  • Attaches the pattern to the gating and seals per the specified method.
  • Performs seal operations as specified.
  • Performs dip seal operations as specified ensuring that the gates are sealed on the mold but are not over dipped.
  • Performs sub-assembly of multiple airfoil patterns.
  • Responsible for the quality of the entire mold assembly.
  • Torch sprues, seal and pour cup. Add bracing as required per engineering specifications.
  • Sets up equipment as required to perform specific activities.
  • Performs all operations associated with pinner/robot.
  • Must pay close attention to detail.
  • Maintains necessary supplies for the area to maximize productivity.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Complies with all EHS rules related to the work environment.
  • Works OT as needed.
  • Follows 5S rules and procedures.
  • Utilize help chain when needed. (Human Performance, BOLO)
  • Comply with all department, facility, corporate and regulatory EHS regulations.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Requires wearing safety glasses, gloves and Metatarsal shoes.
  • Report all job-related illness and injuries (Per Employee Handbook).
  • Report all safety, health and environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Attend all EHS training.
