About The Position

Howmet Aerospace’s Wichita Falls, TX facility has an opening for Wax A Operator. This position is for internal employees only. The role requires the ability to work 12-hour rotating night shifts (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM) on a schedule of 2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off. Overtime is also required. The pay rate starts at $22.01 and goes up to $27.32. Wax "A" operators are responsible for skills including pattern inspection, pattern sub-assembly, mold assembly (gating into finished molds), pinner/robot operations, engraving, and operating 35 Ton/50 Ton/ET-50/SI-250 injection machines. Wax "B" injectors will have a minimum of 90 days to complete Wax "B" cell training and must successfully complete written and practical assessments. Previous qualified internal employees may interview for the Wax "A" position if their training record supports the required job specifications. If selected, the operator will undergo refresher training and then move from Operator "B" status to Operator "A" status. Essential functions include basic computer skills, ability to read and interpret Product Criteria (PC) and Activity Instructions (AI), functioning as a team member under general supervision, maintaining quality levels, and complying with all site policies (EHS, Quality, Code of Conduct, Employee Handbook).

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

  • Must pass Jaeger I eye exam.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up equipment as required to perform specific activities.
  • Performs set-up of dimensional gauges.
  • Dimensionally inspects cores and wax patterns using supplied gauging to specified tolerances.
  • Performs inspection of all patterns and decides to accept, repair or scrap the part per documented instructions.
  • Follows established protocol for notification of potential deviations or scrap trends.
  • Attaches the pattern to the gating and seals per the specified method.
  • Performs seal operations as specified.
  • Performs sub-assembly of multiple airfoil patterns.
  • Performs dip seal operations as specified ensuring that the gates are sealed on the mold but are not over dipped.
  • Responsible for the quality of the entire mold assembly.
  • Repetitive injection and control of wax patterns and sprues.
  • Performs inspection of all patterns and sprues. Determines whether to accept, reject, or repair the pattern per documented instructions.
  • Follows established protocol for notification of potential deviations or scrap trends.
  • Performs set-up of dimensional gauges.
  • Utilizes the necessary fixturing or gauges to ensure dimensional conformance of the patterns, molds, cores, etc. to specified tolerances.
  • Performs specified operations during injection cycle.
  • Torch sprues, seal and pour cup. Add bracing as required per engineering specifications.
  • Maintains necessary supplies for the area to maximize productivity.
  • Must pay close attention to detail.
  • Sets up equipment as required to perform specific activities.
  • Follow 5S rules and procedures.
  • Utilize help chain when needed. (Human Performance, BOLO)
  • Works overtime as needed.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Comply with all department, facility, corporate and regulatory EHS regulations.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE). Requires wearing safety glasses, gloves and Metatarsal shoes.
  • Report all job-related illness and injuries (Per Employee Handbook).
  • Report all safety, health and environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Attend all EHS training.
