Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent life experience and three to six months related experience or training.
  • Ability to learn and operate all injection machines and perform all functions of wax injection operations to include placement of patterns in wax setters or fixtures after injection.
  • Ability to read and understand documents, such as safety rules, work instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to record information on a daily basis.
  • Ability to speak and listen effectively to follow instructions.
  • Ability to write, speak and understand verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Due to government regulation only US persons (U.S. citizen, U.S. naturalized citizen, U.S. permanent resident, holder of U.S. approved political asylee or refugee status) may be considered for this role.
  • Successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Operates wax injection molding machines to form wax patterns, gating, sprues and components.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly and safe work area.
  • Selects next work order following instructions of supervisor or team leader.
  • Ensures the correct practice is pulled up on Mercury screen while performing the injection operation.
  • Follows the Injection Practice for correct procedure to follow, with work to be performed.
  • Meets the established quality and time requirements following standard work.
  • Manually or with use of lift, cart and/or hoist, picks up die from die storage room and lifts it into place on working surface of injection machine.
  • Follows the injection practice; Sets die up on correct machine and uses the correct wax.
  • Handles die carefully to prevent damage. (Never using metal instruments on the inside die surface)
  • Opens die and sprays lubricant inside as required by engineering specifications.
  • If cores are required, ensuring the cores have been prepped properly according to the injection practice.
  • Correctly placing and locating cores inside the die cavity.
  • Closes die and positions it under platen lining up injection port on die with nozzle on injection molding machine.
  • Sets temperature, pressure, speed, dwell time and other settings as required by injection practice.
  • Lowers platen to hold die in place and begins injection cycle.
  • Following dwell time, pulls die out and opens die manually or with assistance of air pressure from air hose.
  • Manually or with the assistance of air hose or manual tool, removes wax part from inside die.
  • Inspects finished part for damages or excess wax and performs minor cleaning or deflashing operation.
  • Places finished part on tray or in the correct setter or pattern fixture.
  • Gets x-ray results when injecting a cored pattern according to the practice.
  • Notifies supervisor or team leader of any quality issue they may have when inspecting the injected patterns, sprues or components.
  • Completes all necessary paperwork, to include signing off the part router.
  • Transfers completed patterns to the next operation according to the router.
  • Fills wax tanks as required.
  • Completes TPM checklist that is posted on the machine daily.
  • Informs supervisor or team leader when work assignment is complete.
