The Water Wastewater Inspector performs constructability and plan reviews prior to construction, interacting with the design engineer. They provide construction management services for water supply and sanitary distribution systems, including work in water and wastewater plants, ensuring job site safety and orderliness. The role involves inspecting contractors' work to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements, communicating daily progress to the project manager and client. The inspector attends and leads pre-construction and weekly progress meetings, provides input on issues, and follows through with RFIs. They conduct on-site observations to assist the engineer in determining if work is proceeding according to contract documents, maintain a logbook of observations and daily activities, and provide daily reports to the engineer. The inspector reviews applications for payment with the contractor and confers with the engineer on recommendations. They must be knowledgeable of NJDEP procedures and requirements, perform field testing of materials, and prepare a final punch list at substantial completion. Construction and building inspectors examine worksites, sometimes climbing ladders or crawling in tight spaces, and typically work full-time during regular business hours.
