About The Position

This role is responsible for supervising personnel, allocating work, approving time, hiring, orienting, and resolving problems. The Foreman evaluates performance, makes recommendations for personnel actions, and motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance. They develop measurable performance expectations for assigned staff according to department goals and objectives, and analyze and resolve work problems. The Foreman initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals, assigns daily duties, and evaluates worker performance. They establish or adjust work schedules to meet maintenance schedules using knowledge of capacities of staff, machines, and equipment, and maintain time and production records. The Foreman develops work-around procedures for crew productivity during delays caused by other trades, customers, lack of materials, or absenteeism. They schedule routine inspections and preventive maintenance on water distribution and wastewater collection systems, and schedule and review water sampling. This role ensures compliance with surface water treatment rules of the Safe Water Drinking Act and ensures all projects, including 86-121 projects, are in compliance with all regulatory laws, environmental, hazardous waste, OSHA, and other safety requirements. The Foreman investigates customer complaints concerning water and wastewater problems, assists well operations in mobilizations and demobilizations of equipment, pulling wells, and resetting pump controls. They maintain well and maintenance records, and report, coordinate, and supervise all aspects of a project. The Foreman estimates future personnel and equipment needs of the department for budget purposes, maintains daily records of supplies and equipment used, and inventories and orders all supplies by completing work orders and parts requests. They respond to emergencies in a timely manner to prevent destruction or damage to private, public, and District property. The Foreman ensures facilities and equipment are in safe operating condition by performing regular visual inspections, observes safety rules, and ensures and maintains a safe environment. They maintain records of scheduled and completed maintenance, work orders, and other reports as requested, and complete forms according to established policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
  • Certification from a Bonafide Apprenticeship program as a Master System Operator.
  • 5 - 7 years' experience in operations and maintenance of water and wastewater systems.
  • AZ or NM State Operator Certificates required: Water Distribution L2, Water Treatment L2, and Wastewater Collection L1.
  • 1 year of Supervisory experience required.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License, Class "A" with HAZMAT Endorsement (subject to motor vehicle record review).
