About The Position

HDR's Water/Wastewater Engineer will serve as a project manager for water and wastewater treatment systems, pumping systems, pipeline, distribution systems, and/or collection systems. This role involves conducting concept, design development, and contract document work sessions at project sites in conjunction with Project Engineers, appropriate technical professionals, and other disciplines. The engineer will prepare and review scopes, budgets, and schedules for water and wastewater projects, and serve as a technical expert with recognized authority in water and wastewater engineering projects, performing assignments and resolving issues of greater scope and complexity. Responsibilities include preparing analysis and study-level reports for water and wastewater treatment, pumping, and distribution and collection systems, as well as preparing detailed plans and specifications for water and wastewater systems and determining appropriate design methods, equipment sizing and selection. The role also involves preparing and analyzing process and hydraulic calculations, coordinating workload to complete deliverables on schedule and within budget, and working closely with Area Managers, Transportation Business Group Managers, Transportation Program Managers, Section Managers, and multiple Project Managers for project reviews. Additionally, the engineer will implement quality control reviews for completed designs and mentor junior engineers and technical staff as needed.

Requirements

  • A Master’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 2 years of experience in water/wastewater engineering, OR a Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 5 years of experience in water/wastewater engineering.
  • Experience in water/wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in water quality analysis.
  • Experience in biological treatment processes and systems.
  • Experience in physical and chemical treatment processes and systems.
  • Experience in statistical analysis.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Experience with Revu BlueBeam.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure (from any US jurisdiction).
