About The Position

This is an entry-level position working in the City’s water treatment plant. The role involves general maintenance of treatment facilities and equipment, including basic carpentry, painting, plumbing, and mechanical and electrical repair work. On-the-job training is available, and the position offers opportunities for advancement.

The employee diagnoses equipment problems and determines appropriate remedial action; inspects, lubricates, dismantles, repairs, and maintains pumps, motors, air compressors, piping, and related utility plant equipment; performs general building maintenance and repair; and maintains accurate records of equipment maintenance activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Possess and maintain a valid Kansas driver's license.
• Meet the City’s insurability guidelines.
• Dependable and highly motivated self-starter.
• Aptitude for mechanics and willingness to learn.
• Enjoys taking things apart, problem solving, and putting them back together.
• Able to thrive in a changing work environment.

Nice To Haves

• Technical school training in machine shop or related areas.
• Completion of basic maintenance courses for water plant operation.

Responsibilities
