About The Position

This is a multi-incumbent position which operates under the direction of the Bureaus’ Operations Administrators by directing the daily activities that ensure and maintain regulatory compliance providing a constant and consistent service to customers. The incumbent oversees up to 8 Water Utility Supervisors and through subordinates, approximately 135 employees in the performance of daily sanitary, storm and water infrastructure maintenance activities. The incumbent must maintain a thorough knowledge of administrative policies and procedures, standard operating guidelines and procedures and work closely with the WUFO Administrators, acting on their behalf during his/her absence. The incumbent assigned to the Sewer Bureau will assist the Operations Administrator in the repair and maintenance programs for the City's sanitary and storm infrastructure system, pumping stations, equipment installation, maintenance, and repair of the sanitary and storm sewer collection systems. The incumbent assigned to the Water Bureau will assist the Operations Administrator in the repair and maintenance programs associated with the Water Distribution system.

Requirements

  • Must meet one of the following combinations of criteria: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Water Resources Management, or a closely related discipline and two (2) years of supervisory and/or administrative experience in the construction, maintenance, and repair of water distribution systems or in water, wastewater, wastewater collection and/or sewer maintenance.
  • Associate degree in Engineering, Water Resource Management or a closely related discipline and three (3) years of supervisory and/or administrative experience in the construction, maintenance, and repair of water distribution systems or in water, wastewater, wastewater collection and/or sewer maintenance.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. and five (5) years of supervisory and/or administrative experience in the construction, maintenance, and repair of water distribution systems or in water, wastewater, wastewater collection and/or sewer maintenance.
  • At time of appointment, must possess both a Class II Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA) Water Distribution System Operator Certification and a Wastewater Collection System Certification and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.
  • As a term and condition of employment, within 12 months of appointment incumbent must complete 40-hour Health and Safety training course in accordance with 29 CFR 1910 and undergo annual eight (8) hours of recertification, including physical condition monitoring.
  • Background investigation and evidence of Employment Authorization and Identity is required prior to employment.
  • Must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position, including current city employees seeking transfer, promotion, demotion, etc. into a classified position.
  • Must pass a job-related medical examination including drug screen.
  • Must pass a nicotine screening.
  • Must remain tobacco and nicotine free as a condition of continued employment (does not apply to current City employees).

Responsibilities
