About The Position

The Water Truck Driver is responsible for driving a truck to transport and deliver water to designated locations, such as construction sites, or remote crews and also driving a truck equipped with sprinkling attachment to spray water on roadways in order to control dust.

Requirements

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand instructions, applicable safety regulations, and to maintain records.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems.
  • Excellent decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to drive safely.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL Class A) required.
  • Clean driving record required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Excellent depth perception and reaction time.
  • Visual acuity to follow hand signals, maintain logs, and inspect and maintain machinery.
  • Must be able to work outside, for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work in all weather types, including extreme hot and cold temperatures.

Nice To Haves

  • Hazmat endorsement is preferred but not required.
  • Two plus years' experience driving a water truck preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Drives a water truck to deliver clean water to construction sites.
  • Inspects the truck before each delivery to ensure it is in good working order and that there are no leaks.
  • Loads the truck with the correct amount of water for the planned route.
  • Drives the truck safely and carefully to avoid accidents or damage to the load.
  • Follows all traffic laws and regulations while in route.
  • Delivers the water to the correct location and unload it according to the instructions.
  • Keep track of the water usage at each stop and report any discrepancies to the supervisor.
  • Refills the truck as needed throughout the day and returns it to the home base when finished.
  • Performs routine maintenance on the truck, such as checking the oil and tire pressure.
  • Reports any mechanical problems with the truck to the supervisor immediately.
  • Complies with all safety regulations to protect oneself, the cargo, and others on the road.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
