About The Position

The Water Treatment Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and quality of water supplies by operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting water treatment systems. This position involves monitoring water treatment processes to comply with regulatory standards and company policies, thereby protecting public health and the environment. The technician will conduct routine inspections, collect water samples, and perform laboratory tests to assess water quality and system performance. Additionally, the role requires timely identification and resolution of operational issues to maintain continuous and efficient water treatment operations. Ultimately, the Water Treatment Technician contributes to sustainable water management by supporting infrastructure that delivers clean and safe water to communities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Basic understanding of water treatment processes and equipment.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing, and working in various weather conditions.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and on-call shifts.
• Technical skills daily to operate and maintain complex treatment systems, ensuring water quality meets regulatory standards.
• Analytical skills are essential for interpreting laboratory test results and diagnosing system issues promptly.
• Strong problem-solving abilities enable the technician to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and implement effective solutions.
• Communication skills are important for documenting procedures, reporting findings, and coordinating with team members and regulatory bodies.
• Physical stamina and attention to safety protocols ensure the technician can perform hands-on tasks efficiently while maintaining a safe work environment.

Nice To Haves

• Certification as a Water Treatment Operator (e.g., from the National Association of Water Companies or state-level certification).
• Experience working in water or wastewater treatment facilities.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and environmental compliance standards related to water treatment.
• Familiarity with computerized control systems and data logging software.
• Technical training or coursework in environmental science, chemistry, or related fields.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain water treatment equipment including pumps, filters, and chemical feed systems to ensure optimal performance.
• Monitor water quality by collecting samples and conducting laboratory tests to verify compliance with environmental and safety standards.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on treatment facilities to identify and address potential issues before they impact operations.
• Document operational data, maintenance activities, and water quality results accurately and submit reports to management and regulatory agencies as required.
• Respond promptly to system alarms and troubleshoot mechanical or chemical process problems to minimize downtime and maintain water safety.
