About The Position

The Water Treatment Technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the District’s water treatment systems and related equipment. This role ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding water quality and safety. The technician will perform routine inspections, testing, and adjustments to maintain optimal system performance and water purity. This position is part of the Maintenance Department and operates on a 12-month, 8-hour per day schedule.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in water treatment operations or a related field.
  • Valid Nevada State Driver’s License.
  • Possession of a Nevada State Water Treatment Operator Grade II certification.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Knowledge of water chemistry, treatment processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in the use of testing equipment and tools related to water treatment.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SCADA systems.
  • Additional certifications in related fields (e.g., wastewater treatment, plumbing).

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain water treatment systems and related equipment.
  • Monitor water quality parameters and make necessary adjustments.
  • Perform routine inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance on all water treatment facilities and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding water quality and safety.
  • Respond to system alarms and emergencies, taking appropriate corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of system operations, maintenance activities, and water quality data.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment malfunctions.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of water treatment programs.
  • Order and manage inventory of necessary chemicals and supplies.
  • Collaborate with other departments and external agencies as needed.
