About The Position

BluMetric is looking for a full-time Water / Wastewater Treatment Operations Supervisor responsible for the operation of various filtering and chemical treatment processes. This role involves maintaining the water and wastewater treatment plant and facilities in accordance with federal, provincial/territorial, and municipal legislation, policies, and standards. The candidate will also be responsible for troubleshooting and adjusting Wastewater Treatment processes as required. The ideal candidate would supervise Plant Operators & Trainees and be responsible for the safety, quality, and efficiency of all employees on their shift. This position would be responsible for some weekend coverage. This is a great opportunity to join an experienced team, working on large-scale projects in Yellowknife and the Territories. This is a future vacancy with the organization. Work will be conducted at a mine site near Yellowknife. On-call may be required.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 Years of water treatment experience or similar transferable experience.
  • Level 2 or higher Water Treatment Operator Certification required
  • Must be willing to do shiftwork (weekends and evenings included).
  • A valid drivers license (may be asked to provide a drivers abstract (3 years)).
  • WSCC Level 1 or Level 2 certification

Nice To Haves

  • Maintenance and operation experience related to Pumps, piping, mixers and other water & wastewater treatment equipment (Hands on experience is an asset).
  • Previous supervisor or lead hand experience is an asset.
  • Experience working on a mine site is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor computerized control systems and related equipment in chemical dosing and reactor tanks and water filtration clarifier to regulate the treatment and distribution of mine effluent.
  • Complete daily operations monitoring sheets, that include water analytics and flow.
  • Consistent and accurate operation of chemical dosing systems, and proper performance of clarification and filtration equipment.
  • Regular systems checks to ensure equipment is working correctly and accurately.
  • Collect and test samples of effluent, employing analysis standards and testing equipment, to ensure treated water meets standards.
  • Communicate with coworkers, other employees and upper management regarding operations, plant conditions and other essential information.
  • Collaborate with upper management to determine the best practices, equipment, upgrades and other operational aspects to contribute to ecologically friendly, cost-effective impacts of the facility’s water treatment.
  • Supervise and roster Plant Operators and Trainees according to work schedules.
  • Support environmental department with routine sampling as time allows.
  • Complete reports summarizing treatment, operations maintenance, and efficiencies of the water treatment plant.
