About The Position

Garratt-Callahan is seeking a Water Treatment Chemical Service Technician for the Chicagoland area. This role supports sales by maintaining the existing customer base, performing water treatment tests, and working alongside veteran Territory Managers. The position offers the flexibility of working from home and provides a clear career path towards becoming a Territory Manager, who are eligible for unlimited commission and a year-end bonus. The company emphasizes stability, profitability, and a family-friendly environment with a history of no layoffs and consistent profitability. This role involves solving customer water problems, treating industrial boilers and cooling towers for efficiency and environmental friendliness, performing detailed water testing and analyses, and assisting in the sale of proprietary chemical blends, equipment, and monitoring technology. Responsibilities also include passivation of stainless steel, selling corrosion and scale inhibitors, and promoting Water Safety Programs to ensure customer satisfaction and acquire new industrial customers.

Requirements

  • Must have a 4-year science degree.
  • Must be a capable Chemist.
  • Must live in Chicagoland, and be familiar with the industrial marketplace of the area.
  • Technical degree such as Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Mechanical Engineering, Paper Science, or Water Resources.

Nice To Haves

  • One-year technical sales, or an internship related to water treatment chemicals is preferred, but we are willing to train and mentor.
  • Outside industrial sales experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Solve customers' water problems.
  • Treat industrial boilers and cooling towers to keep energy efficient and environmentally friendly.
  • Perform detailed water testing & analyses at Industrial sites, Medical Centers, data centers, and Commercial Buildings.
  • Help sell Garratt-Callahan's proprietary chemical blends, equipment, & monitoring technology.
  • Passivation of stainless steel in industrial water treatment systems.
  • Help sell corrosion & scale inhibitors, coagulants, flocculants, biocides, bio-augmentation, feed & monitoring equipment, water management plans, reverse osmosis products.
  • Help sell Water Safety Programs.
  • Keep our existing customers happy.
  • Help bring on new industrial customers.
