Manages and oversees the maintenance of water department operations, completion of complex projects, and work on capital projects. This role involves developing and managing the departmental budget, supervising departmental personnel, performing administrative duties, maintaining inventories, advising the Public Works Superintendent, developing bid specifications, participating in the City's comprehensive planning process, maintaining well houses, cleaning equipment and facilities, ensuring proper water pressure and chemical balance, maintaining water tower levels, troubleshooting malfunctions, refilling chemicals, installing and maintaining the potable water system, checking and maintaining system components, determining repair needs, ensuring proper operation of system components, participating in public relations and education, communicating with stakeholders, attending meetings, providing technical assistance, overseeing the City's safety programs, preparing safety meeting agendas, typing and distributing minutes, scheduling employee trainings, maintaining safety files, completing annual safety evaluations, and occasionally serving as an equipment operator or other departmental personnel as needed. The position also performs similar duties for other City departments as assigned and performs other duties as directed.
