About The Position

Water Spiders are responsible for keeping materials and paperwork needed to perform operations in stock and organized at the point of use in an assigned production area. The “just in time” concept, Water Spiders take care of all material transportation around the processes. Water Spiders allow Part of Team (POT) to concentrate on value added activities while supporting good efficiency and effectiveness of the operators and machines. Water Spiders spend most of their time moving around the production floor.

Requirements

  • Read, comprehend, and follow written, standardized work instructions and trained procedures to perform and set up any secondary machinery.
  • A proactive team player who is a self-starter with constant attention to improvement.
  • Must possess excellent reasoning and communication skills.
  • Must be extremely focused and organized.
  • Knowledge of basic math, reading, and writing.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Possess good physical stamina and coordination.
  • Ability to see clearly at close and distance ranges, distinguish colors, maintain peripheral vision, perceive depth, and adjust focus as necessary.
  • Recognizes potential exposure to mechanical, chemical, electrical, and explosive hazards.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma preferred.
  • Previous assembly or material handling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor workstations and replenish required parts, labels, and supplies timely.
  • Prepare, communicate and execute a plan to effectively provide material and any required paperwork needed to run the next job in queue for assigned work centers.
  • Coordinate with Material Handlers, Supervisors, and Shipping and Receiving to ensure parts are ready to run when they are scheduled; from raw material stock to lines, between lines, and between Receiving and the lines.
  • Create and print accurate labels in correspondence with part and deliver to workstation timely.
  • Determine the priority of orders to be pulled when components are limited in order to keep production flowing smoothly.
  • Effectively communicate with personnel in other departments to ensure accurate and timely deliveries.
  • Coordinate with team to ensure that the correct jobs are being prepared for each work center.
  • Organize incoming and outgoing parts in your assigned area while maintaining organization and consistency throughout the department.
  • Ensure that material and storage, in their area of assignment, appears clean and tidy.
  • React and take immediate actions in case of changes in priority.
  • Work according to standard operation procedures.
  • Know the proper procedures for packing parts.
  • Learn new tasks and adapt to frequent job duty changes as required by business and manpower demands.
  • Work overtime hours as required and be available for emergency overtime when the need arises.
  • Work cooperatively with others in a team environment.
  • Perform Process Specific Training Form duties if available.
  • Regularly report for work on time with a desire to perform to the best of your abilities.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area consistent with safety, work rules, and regulations.
  • Comply with all company employment policies, procedures/processes, and programs.
  • Perform duties in compliance quality, as well as safety policies, procedures/processes, and programs.
  • Ensure that all agreements concerning moving and the supply of materials are observed.
  • Assist with visually inspecting of castings during operation to comply with customer specifications.
  • Knowledgeable on performing hourly checks using gauges.
  • Follow the scrap and containment procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities.
