About The Position

In this position, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the local community has in-field customer response while also ensuring they have utility meters that work appropriately and provide accurate data for a seamless billing process. The Public Utilities Department's Water Service Technician is a full-time position with benefits and a preferred starting rate of $19.54 - $21.00 per hour (equivalent to $40,643 - $43,680 annually); however, an exact salary will be dependent upon the selected candidate's qualifications/experience and in compliance with City policy. Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications for the Water Service Technician Senior classification may be considered at that level.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED and minimal experience involving the operation and maintenance of water systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Valid driver's license

Responsibilities

Perform customer service, investigations, inspections, preventive maintenance, and repair maintenance for Public Utilities work orders
Locate and read meters
Respond to work order assignments, resolve customer complaints, perform investigations to troubleshoot account management issues, and maintain records and files including documenting all field activities
Assist with construction activities by providing investigation of availability and initialization of service
Inspect plumbing and utilities for leaks, pressure issues, and cross-connections
Perform preventive maintenance and testing of all meter types and registers
Be on-call for off-hours emergency response, participate in a rotating, non-working hours, stand-by program, and perform snow and ice removal
