About The Position

This position is responsible for teaching and leading swim lessons. The instructor must accurately follow lesson plans, test participants for assigned levels, and maintain control of class participants. They will also be responsible for maintaining paperwork, communicating effectively with the public and staff, and ensuring a safe environment for all. This role requires knowledge and enforcement of program policies and rules, as well as the ability to follow and respond to emergency procedures.

Requirements

• American Red Cross Certification
• Current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI)
• At least 16 years old
• Successful background check required if over 18

Responsibilities

• Teaching and leading swim lessons
• Accurately following lesson plans
• Testing for assigned levels
• Directing and maintaining control of class participants
• Accurately maintaining paperwork for each class
• Communicating effectively with the general public and staff members
• Maintaining a safe environment for all participants and staff
• Knowing and enforcing all program policies and rules
• Following established emergency procedures
• Recognizing and responding quickly and effectively in an emergency situation
• Maintaining current required certifications
• Performing other related duties as assigned
