About The Position

The job of Water Safety Assistant is done for the purpose of providing basic instruction to students; monitoring students and the public; complying with mandated health requirements; and maintaining accurate records. This position is 7.5 hours/day - 187 days per school year. This position starts August 19, 2026.

Requirements

  • American Red Cross Life Guarding Certification (Required)
  • American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates situations involving other staff, students, parents, the public, etc. for the purpose of taking appropriate action and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Instructs students in basic swimming for the purpose of meeting physical education requirements.
  • Maintains pool and pool equipment (e.g. evaluates chlorine and acid level, checks diving board, etc.) for the purpose of complying with mandated safety and heath requirements.
  • Maintains student records (e.g. current level, grades, etc.) for the purpose of providing accurate information and complying with current District standards and expectations of the Aquatic Center Program.
  • Monitors swimming pool facility (e.g. locker room, pool, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the safety and welfare of students.
  • Prepares lesson plans for the purpose of providing accurate swim instruction for students at all levels.
  • Assists other personnel, as may be required, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
