About The Position

STV is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Water Resources Intern to join our team. This internship offers an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate-level candidates to work alongside our experienced team, learn, and contribute to meaningful projects. This a hybrid position that requires at least 3 days a week in the office. Preference will be given to those who can participate in the internship for at least 3 months. In this role, you will work closely with engineers and project managers on the planning, design, and implementation of drainage improvements, stormwater management, erosion & sediment control, and eco-restoration projects. You will have the opportunity to apply innovative techniques for the design and construction of stormwater systems for transportation and public works clients throughout the country.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil or Environmental engineering at an ABET-accredited University or NCEES equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with computer applications and civil engineering design software such as MicroStation, InRoads, or ArcGIS in a professional or academic setting.
  • Familiarity with reading construction plans.
  • Familiarity with Storm Drain Modeling and Rational Method Hydrologic Calculations or Open Channel & Detention Basin Modeling and Design.
  • Experience researching design standards and permit requirements.
  • Experience in the architecture/engineering/construction management industry.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing technical reports, narratives, development applications, engineering drawings, submittal documents, and response letters.
  • Support the analysis and design of storm drainage systems and stormwater management practices.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses under the supervision of senior engineers.
  • Contribute to developing engineering designs and work with MicroStation and GIS software.
  • Assist in creating erosion and sediment control, drainage, and stormwater plans and details.
  • Participate in the inspection and assessment of constructed stormwater management practices.
  • Help complete permit applications for state and local agencies.
  • Conduct field investigations and provide field support for design parameter development and during construction for oversight and quality assurance purposes.
  • Evaluate field data, perform calculations, and assist in preparing engineering reports, designs, cost estimates, comprehensive schedules, and progress tracking reports.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the supervisor to support project goals and team objectives.
