Water Resources Engineer
About The Position
AECOM is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join its team in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The role contributes to stormwater management and water resources design across the project lifecycle, from feasibility investigations and field inspections to detailed design and hydrologic and hydraulic analyses. Work combines field assignments with collaborative design work alongside engineers and scientists. The position offers opportunities to contribute to stormwater design and participate in advanced technical training. The engineer prepares project deliverables under the supervision of an experienced engineer, interprets analytical data to develop conclusions and recommendations, and supports construction inspection and post-construction monitoring. Some field work and occasional regional travel are required. Relocation and sponsorship are not available. Newly hired employees must attend in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a related degree.
- At least 2 years of related experience.
- Demonstrated experience with hydraulic calculations.
- EIT certification or ability to obtain it within 1 year of employment.
- Some field work is required as needed.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or GIS.
- Ability and willingness to travel occasionally, typically within the region.
- Hydraulic modeling and stormwater design experience.
Responsibilities
- Participate in field work, including stormwater management inspections, stream flow analysis, and soil sampling.
- Prepare plans, specifications, construction estimates, and design reports under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Interpret analytical data for projects and develop appropriate conclusions and recommendations.
- Conduct post-construction monitoring of projects.
- Perform construction inspection and oversight.
