About The Position

AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Water Resources Engineer to be based in our Chelmsford, MA, Boston, MA, or New York, NY office. This position will support our Remediation team within our Environment business line. This position is expected to begin June 2027, but that date is flexible. The Entry-Level Water Resources Engineer will work with a diverse team of engineers, project managers and technical leaders across a broad range of practice areas delivering remediation consulting services in New England.

Requirements

BS in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biological/Agricultural Engineering, or related field
Due to the nature of work, U.S. Citizenship is required
Valid U.S Driver’s License and as a condition of employment must pass the AECOM Motor Vehicle screening
Ability to travel locally, including occasional extended travel

Nice To Haves

General knowledge of basic civil and environmental engineering principles with an understanding of hydrology and hydraulics, fluvial processes, construction techniques
Proficiency in standard Microsoft Office suite software applications
General knowledge of water resources engineering tools such as ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS
General knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Microstation
Ability to perform complex engineering calculations as directed
Attention to detail in work; high quality and accuracy in work performed
Ability to demonstrate professional demeanor in written and verbal communications with clients, regulatory officials, and fellow employees
Ability to write and to convey complex thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise manner
Ability to learn through on-the-job experience

Engineer-in-training certification within six months of employment

Responsibilities

Support planning, design, construction, and maintenance of stormwater infrastructure and best management practices (BMPs), low impact development projects, and green infrastructure practices
Perform field work including environmental sampling and parameter collection, stormwater BMP inspection, BMP retrofit assessments and stream evaluations
Prepare construction documents, engineering reports, and basic data and scientific documents regarding stormwater, water quality, watershed management, and best management practices
Support hydrologic, hydraulic, and water quality modeling, and geospatial evaluations
Prepare written and graphic reports
Build analytic and design skills
Conduct engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer
Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer
Collect and analyze data under the supervision of an experienced engineer
Use computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems
Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision
