About The Position

Barr is seeking an entry-level water resources engineer for its Minneapolis, Minnesota, team. This hybrid role involves challenging project work in hydraulic and hydrologic analysis, civil engineering, and related technical activities. Assignments may include stormwater planning and hydrologic runoff analysis; hydrologic and hydraulic modeling; open-channel and pipe-flow design; and design of water-control and stormwater-treatment structures. Fieldwork may include construction observation, surveying, collecting hydrologic or water-quality measurements, and materials testing. The role may also involve preparing plans and specifications, working with permitting agencies and public officials, GIS and CADD work, report writing, and spreadsheet development. Short-term out-of-town assignments may be required. The engineer will support water-resources activities, contribute to project plans, specifications, and reports, and take part in site visits and inspections to help ensure construction follows design intent. The position involves close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and project managers in a professional consulting environment while developing technical skills. A hybrid arrangement may split time between a Barr office and a home office. Candidates should have strong computer, written, oral-presentation, independent-work, and collaboration skills, and a flexible working style, including willingness to occasionally adjust their schedule to meet deadlines or client needs. Work may take place on rough terrain at construction, manufacturing, or rural outdoor sites with limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities. The anticipated salary range is $70,000–$80,000 per year, with compensation varying based on relevant factors. Employees may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus based on team and individual performance.
