About The Position

RS&H is currently seeking a senior-level Water Resources Engineer to join our team in Charlotte, NC! This role provides professional engineering consultation in the planning, design, and coordination of large complex projects, often requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures and independently applying advanced engineering concepts and designs. The engineer may serve as the team expert and/or project lead on large, complex multidiscipline projects. Responsibilities include developing and evaluating engineering reports, plans, and specification criteria for a variety of projects, engineering design and facility development, design detailing, code and criteria analysis, construction document production, and construction administration. The role involves coordinating with a diversified project team, including client communication, proposal coordination, marketing, presentations, and management of other discipline-related activities. The engineer will prepare specifications, scaled drawings, and proposals, ensuring finished plans, specifications, and approval of materials and construction. They may review and approve scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments and meet with clients to determine objectives and requirements. This position also involves reviewing junior staff's work for technical accuracy and providing technical guidance to other professionals and technicians, potentially leading a discipline team or small multidisciplinary teams. Quality control reviews, achievement of key milestones, and as-needed field reviews and observations of ongoing construction projects are also key functions. Maintaining professional registration and licensure, staying knowledgeable of applicable codes and regulations, and potentially supervising direct reports are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • Minimum ten years of relevant experience
  • PE required
  • Advanced level of oral, presentation and written communication skills
  • Experience working on parts of a major project or multiple moderate-sized projects
  • Proven experience providing technical guidance to entry/junior level staff. This includes reviewing others' work for technical accuracy

  • Remains knowledgeable of all applicable federal, state, and local codes, criteria, regulations, and ordinances that are pertinent to respective discipline.
  • May supervise direct reports, including hiring, coaching, performance reviews, development conversations, and productivity management.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned and within scope of practice.
