About The Position

RS&H is currently seeking a Water Resources Engineer II to join our Transportation Practice in our Orlando, FL office. This role provides professional engineering consultation in the planning, design, and coordination of large complex projects, often requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures and independently applying advanced engineering concepts and designs. The position may serve as the team expert and/or project lead on large, complex multidiscipline projects. Responsibilities include developing and evaluating engineering reports, plans, and specification criteria for a variety of projects, engineering design and facility development, design detailing, code and criteria analysis, construction document production, and construction administration. The role involves coordinating with a diversified project team, including client communication, proposal coordination, marketing, presentations, and management of other discipline-related activities. The engineer will prepare specifications, scaled drawings, and proposals, ensuring finished plans, specifications, and approval of materials and construction. They may also review and approve scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments and meet with clients to determine objectives and requirements. Additionally, the role includes reviewing junior staff's work for technical accuracy, providing technical guidance, and potentially leading a discipline team or small multidisciplinary teams. Quality control reviews, achievement of key milestones, and field reviews of ongoing construction projects are also part of the responsibilities. Maintaining professional registration and licensure, and staying knowledgeable of applicable codes and regulations are essential. The role may also involve supervising direct reports, including hiring, coaching, performance reviews, development conversations, and productivity management. All other duties as assigned and within scope of practice will be performed.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • Minimum seven years of relevant experience
  • PE required
  • Advanced level of oral, presentation and written communication skills
  • Experience working on parts of a major project or multiple moderate-sized projects
  • Proven experience providing technical guidance to entry/junior level staff. This includes reviewing others' work for technical accuracy

  • Meets with clients to determine objectives and requirements for executing desired scope.
  • Reviews junior staff's work for technical accuracy and provides technical guidance to other professionals and technicians. May also lead a discipline team or small multidisciplinary teams to complete projects.
  • Performs quality control reviews and ensures achievement of key milestones.
  • Performs as-needed field reviews and observations of ongoing construction projects to maintain and increase understanding of construction practices and design applications.
  • Maintains professional registration and licensure by ensuring conformance with professional, ethical, educational, and discipline practice requirements.
  • Remains knowledgeable of all applicable federal, state, and local codes, criteria, regulations, and ordinances that are pertinent to respective discipline.
  • May supervise direct reports, including hiring, coaching, performance reviews, development conversations, and productivity management.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned and within scope of practice.
