Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Water Resources, or Environmental Engineering from an accredited university, preferably with a specialization in water resources.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in water resources or drainage engineering.
  • Registered as an EIT or eligible for registration with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
  • Experience supporting municipal and transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with data analysis, visualization of modeling results, and communication of technical findings.
  • Strong foundation in water resources engineering, hydrology, and hydraulics.
  • Proficiency in PCSWMM, HEC‑RAS, AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D.
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS.
  • Knowledge of floodplain analysis, erosion protection, natural channel design, fluvial geomorphology, watershed processes, and Ontario stormwater, OPSS, conservation authority, and MTO drainage requirements.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Multitasking ability.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality, client service, and teamwork.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with linear infrastructure and transportation corridor projects is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support both simple and complex water resources studies, modeling, and design tasks across all project phases, including conceptual design, preliminary design, detailed design, construction, and operational support.
  • Contribute to transportation and municipal projects including highway and roadway drainage design; storm sewer systems, culverts, ditches, and channels; stormwater management (SWM) infrastructure planning; and floodplain mapping and erosion assessments.
  • Assist with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling of stormwater runoff and floodplains, including design and assessment of SWM controls and flood mitigation strategies; culverts, storm sewers, and road/highway drainage systems; and Low Impact Development (LID) features.
  • Use PCSWMM and HEC RAS to analyze system capacity, flood risk, and infrastructure performance, and prepare conceptual and detailed design drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D, ensuring accuracy, constructability, and compliance with standards.
  • Analyze, interpret, and present modeling results in technical reports, design briefs, and presentations, and support the preparation of stormwater master plans, drainage reports, and related technical documentation.
  • Conduct field investigations to verify existing SWM infrastructure, surface drainage patterns, and site conditions.
  • Collaborate with intermediate and senior engineers, modelers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams, and coordinate with municipalities, MTO, and conservation authorities.
