About The Position

The Water Reclamation Plant Operator II position supports the daily operations of a complex Water Reclamation Facility that operates on a 24/7 basis. This role includes monitoring and operating treatment equipment, conducting routine sampling and testing and ensuring compliance with operational standards. The incumbent will also serve as crew leader in the absence of the Wastewater Treatment Supervisor, overseeing assigned staff and assisting with maintenance decisions. The position involves working on an assigned shift, operating and monitoring primary, secondary, tertiary and disinfection treatment systems, troubleshooting equipment issues and performing routine maintenance. The operator will collect and analyze samples, document plant conditions and take corrective actions as needed. This role requires regular use of computerized systems such as MS Office, CMMS, SCADA and Hach WIMS for maintenance, reporting and operational improvements. The incumbent will also participate in the development of standard operating procedures and assist with training new staff. This is an essential role for ensuring continuous, compliant and efficient operation of our water reclamation processes.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school (or G.E.D.)
  • Two years of hands-on experience in specific operation of water reclamation facility in one or more of the following areas; daily plant operations, daily plant maintenance, military experience in potable water/water reclamation treatment.
  • Must obtain an Ohio EPA Water Reclamation Operator Class I certification at time of appointment and maintain as a term and condition of continued employment.
  • Must obtain an Ohio EPA Water Reclamation Operator Class II certification within 24 months of appointment and maintain as a term and condition of continued employment.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.
  • Out of state residents must have equivalent valid licenses from their state of residences at time of appointment and maintain as a condition of employment until an Ohio license can be obtained.
  • Applicants are responsible for providing all necessary employment dates, experience, training, or any other requirements as stated in the Exam Announcement, in order for their application to be considered for certification and admittance to the examination process.

Nice To Haves

  • A valid Ohio Class B license is preferred at time of appointment.
  • Incumbents hired without a Class B license will be required within 150 days of appointment to obtain and maintain a valid Ohio Class A Commercial Driver's License (C.D.L.), including the qualification to operate a vehicle with air brakes and any other endorsements required by the State of Ohio.
