Fort Bend County Water Control & Improvement District No. 2 is seeking a Water Production Operator II/III to help deliver safe, reliable water service to the Stafford community. Under general supervision, the Water Production Operator II/III performs skilled work in the operation, monitoring, maintenance, and quality control of the District’s public water system and associated production facilities. This role is responsible for operating pumps, motors, valves, and chemical feed systems; monitoring treatment processes; collecting and recording operational data; performing routine and preventive maintenance; and helping ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards, including Texas Commission on Environmental Quality requirements. The position also plays an important role in troubleshooting equipment and process issues to maintain dependable daily water production. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, and motivated by meaningful public service. They bring solid technical judgment, strong attention to detail, and the ability to interpret readings, respond to changing plant conditions, and take corrective action when needed. Successful candidates are comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, communicate clearly, and demonstrate a commitment to regulatory compliance, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement. Candidates at the Operator III level should also be prepared to take on more advanced process control responsibilities and help mentor less experienced staff.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED required
  • Valid TCEQ Class C (or higher) Surface Water Operator License OR Valid TCEQ Class C (or higher) Groundwater Operator License
  • Operators holding a Surface Water license must take appropriate Groundwater course(s) to operate the District’s Groundwater Under the Influence (GUI) treatment facilities as approved by the TCEQ to support cross-certification.
  • Operators holding a Groundwater license must take appropriate Surface Water course(s) to operate the District’s Groundwater Under the Influence (GUI) treatment facilities as approved by the TCEQ to support cross-certification.

Responsibilities

  • Operating pumps, motors, valves, and chemical feed systems
