This position plans and oversees the inspection, maintenance and repair of the City’s water treatment plant equipment and facilities by coordinating technical, administrative and supervisory work as required. The incumbent works within broad policy and organizational guidelines and does independent planning and implementation, reporting progress of major activities through periodic conferences and meetings. The work is considered medium in nature and involves walking, standing, stooping, stretching or lifting some of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on an as needed basis, or considerable skill, adeptness and speed in the use of fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving very close tolerances or limits of accuracy. The work requires the following physical abilities to perform the essential job functions: balancing, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, talking, and visual acuity. Work environment may involve exposure to bright / dim light, extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions, dusts and pollen, fumes and/or noxious odors, traffic; and is safe and secure that may periodically have unpredicted requirements or demands.
