Under immediate supervision, this role is responsible for performing a variety of apprentice-level duties involved in the operation, maintenance, and repair of utility distribution or collection systems, equipment, and facilities. The incumbent will be assigned to work in one of the three utility divisions and will work generally within that division to test, maintain, inspect, repair, and clean the various utility pipes, fittings, inlets, basins, valves, or other appurtenances associated with the utility. All disciplines may involve emergency call-out or overtime repair work, working in various weather conditions, at various times of the day/night. Perform general maintenance and cleanup duties around facilities. Operate a variety of vehicles, tools, and equipment used in the operation and maintenance of utility distribution and collection systems. Assist in testing, maintaining, and repairing pumps, chlorinating equipment, valves, meters, gauges, and electrical and gas water-pumping equipment; operate SCADA/telemetry system. Obtain and record water and pumping levels. Assist in obtaining water quality samples, testing, and reporting of sample results. Perform routine daily inspections of all water storage facilities and assist in identifying improper functioning of equipment. Assist in system repairs, including underground pipe repair/replacement, service line connections, leak detection and repair.
