The Water Operations Manager directs 24/7 ultra-pure water (UPW) and industrial wastewater treatment (IWT) production, managing daily plant output, driving shift performance, and ensuring absolute safety and environmental compliance for semiconductor manufacturing. This role oversees daily plant activities, coordinates shift handoffs, and monitors real‑time water‑purity metrics while working with engineering to optimize processes and with maintenance to schedule preventive repairs without impacting fab uptime. This position also enforce strict EHS policies, manage chemical‑handling protocols, and ensure continuous compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The Water Operations Manager ensures rapid resolution of SCADA/HMI alarms to maintain uptime, enforces accurate SOPs and shift logs, and cultivates a high‑performance, safety‑first culture among operations technicians.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in water/wastewater operations or heavy industrial/process environments, with specific semiconductor fab experience strongly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of water treatment processes (RO, CEDI, UF, UV, ion exchange, and biological/chemical wastewater treatment).
  • Familiarity with SCADA, HMI controls, and reading P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams).
  • Strong grasp of OSHA, EHS guidelines, and environmental discharge permits.

Responsibilities

  • Direct daily activities of plant operators and shift technicians, ensuring continuous, high-purity water delivery and zero fab interruptions.
  • Lead daily operations, maintenance, and engineering (OPS/MX/ENG) alignment meetings to prioritize work and resolve plant excursions.
  • Enforce strict environmental health and safety (EHS) protocols and local/state/federal regulatory standards for chemical handling and wastewater discharge.
  • Track real-time water quality parameters, review performance trends via SCADA/HMI, and manage immediate response to system alarms.
  • Oversee standard operating procedures (SOPs), drive operator shift training, and conduct ongoing performance management.
