About The Position

The City of Kingman is seeking a skilled and motivated Water Maintenance Worker to join our Water Operations team. In this role, you’ll operate light to medium-duty equipment, perform hands-on field work, assist with emergency repairs, and help ensure our water systems run safely and efficiently. This position reports to the Water Operations Supervisor and may occasionally provide direction to temporary staff. Requirements

  • Graduation from high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Two (2) years’ experience involving the use of light to medium equipment, one (1) of which must have been related to construction and/or maintenance of pipelines.
  • Any combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge and experience to perform the work.
  • Valid Arizona State driver’s license or have the ability to obtain one prior to employment
  • Based on assignment, may be required to participate and obtain NIMS (National Incident Management System) training certifications.
  • Flagger certification within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Performing semi-skilled and skilled construction and maintenance tasks, including pothole patching, ditch digging, vegetation control, water and wastewater system repairs, meter replacements, and other hands-on field work.
  • Regularly operating light to medium-duty equipment such as backhoes, trenchers, loaders, dump trucks, sweepers, trailers, and small tools. Typical tasks include excavation, grading, hauling, vegetation control, and routine equipment inspections to support daily Water Division operations.
  • Responding to work orders, assisting with emergency repairs, coordinating traffic flagging, and providing excellent customer service to the public.
  • Supporting emergency cleanup efforts and always following safety procedures, CDL requirements, and Blue Stake laws during excavation and maintenance work. This involves setting up work zone safety barriers, following safety procedures, reporting hazards, and participating in City safety and wellness programs.
