About The Position

Mott MacDonald is seeking an experienced water/wastewater engineer to join their growing Colorado team. The company is actively expanding its water practice in the Rocky Mountain Region, focusing on diverse projects including water, wastewater, stormwater, green infrastructure, and recycled water. This position offers significant potential for professional development and the chance to collaborate with national design leaders and project managers. The water practice supports various markets such as dams, geotechnical, energy, and transportation. The role involves assisting project managers in executing water projects and working with multi-disciplinary design teams, including Mott MacDonald's technical disciplines and specialty sub-consultants.

Requirements

  • Entrepreneurial mindset is a must.
  • B.S. Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) in Colorado
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in water and wastewater related projects – planning, design, execution, and cost estimation for green infrastructure, pumping, and pipeline design projects.
  • Excellent coordination and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills; able to collaborate effectively with all levels of staff and clients (technical and non-technical) and nurture the development of junior staff.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Microsoft Project.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or GIS.
  • Ability and enthusiasm for supervising the work of others, including check and approval of key deliverables.
  • Skilled in technical writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of hydraulic and hydrologic modeling software is a plus but not needed.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing technical design deliverables for work packages for infrastructure projects in water/wastewater
  • Assists the project manager in managing projects, serving as the deputy project manager and/or task/discipline lead for projects.
  • Prepares plans, specifications, cost estimates, and calculations for key deliverables.
  • Provides design support services during construction (submittal reviews, RFI’s, change orders, etc.).
  • Applies intensive/diversified knowledge of engineering/scientific principals/practices in broad areas of assignment and related fields.
  • Coordinates with other disciplines, subconsultants, and other staff throughout the project.
