About The Position

GFT is seeking several Water Engineers of various levels of experience and expertise to join their teams in Texas. These roles follow a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at one of their many Texas office locations. Joining the water resources team at GFT means contributing to innovative solutions for sustainable water management and infrastructure. The team excels in dams and levees, advanced water and wastewater treatment, stormwater management, and conveyance, collection, and transmission. With a focus on integrating technology, sustainability, and compliance, each water resources and environmental remediation project is considered a chance to innovate and evolve to protect public health and enhance quality of life.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering or a related field of study.
  • 3-20 years of related experience.
  • EIT required.
  • Project experience including design of water treatment plant upgrades, water distribution systems, pump stations, and stormwater assets.
  • Strong, clear, and concise written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent technical writing skills.
  • Experience managing preparation of and reviewing and approving engineering plans, specifications, project schedules, and construction cost estimates.

Nice To Haves

  • Texas Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred.
  • Hydraulic modeling experience is a plus.
  • Experience using Bluebeam is desired.
  • Participation in VA AWWA, VWEA, or other regional or national professional associations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to a team of skilled engineers and project managers, leveraging expertise to enhance the team’s capabilities while supporting multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Lead pursuits while overseeing Technical Work and Staff (for Senior Manager level).
  • Support condition assessment evaluations for water and stormwater assets, including pipelines and pump stations, using various design approaches and technologies.
  • Meet established budget and delivery schedules for each task assignment, including scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Work directly with municipal clients to identify needs and provide solutions, while helping draft task order proposals.
  • Coordinate the execution of projects with other disciplines and the Project Manager and/or Contract Manager.
  • Develop small to large design projects from planning to construction.
  • Prepare complete construction packages (including plans, specs, and OPCC) for the engineering, procurement, and construction of water systems for clients.
  • Support growth of client relationships.
  • Create and manage cost estimates and project schedules, ensuring design tasks are completed within budget and on schedule.
  • Prepare detailed engineering calculations and perform technical analyses which may involve utilizing 3rd party software platforms.
  • Participate in local office activities to encourage collaboration, foster client development, and improve office camaraderie.
