About The Position

Under general supervision of the Crew Leader, this position is responsible for reports and/or records. The role involves making decisions that require interpretation and judgment, and rendering simple public services several times a week. The job functions include working as a member of a crew to repair and maintain water, sewer lines, and streets, as well as repairing and replacing fire hydrants and making water taps. The position also requires inspecting equipment for proper operation and safety before use, responding to emergencies (including being on-call), installing and repairing utility lines, and making minor repairs and adjustments to equipment. Additional duties may include performing tasks for special events like parades or city events, and other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Requires a high school diploma or G.E.D.
Must be able to pass T.C.E.Q. Class “D” Certification in Distribution Water or “Level I” Collection within six months.
Must be able to acquire a “C License” in Distribution Water or “Level II” Collection within 3 years of employment.
Must be able to read and write English.
Requires a valid Texas driver’s license.
Sufficient knowledge in a field to perform most normal work as assigned with little direction supervision.

Nice To Haves

Class “B” CDL driver’s license.
Possess a valid T.C.E.Q. Class “D” or higher Level of water license.
Experience working in Water Distribution System.

Responsibilities

Works as a member of a crew when repairing or maintaining water, sewer lines and streets.
Repairs and replace fire hydrants.
Makes water taps.
Inspects equipment for proper operation and safety prior to operating.
Responds to emergencies when required; (subject to on call).
Installation of new utility lines.
Repair utility lines.
Make minor repairs and adjustments to equipment.
Performs related tasks as required.
May perform other duties as assigned for different events (Ex. Parades or City Events).
Will perform other related duties as assigned.
