This position is responsible for the coordination of Water Conservation within the City of Denton. The role involves leading conservation initiatives, serving as a citywide representative for conservation issues, spearheading public awareness campaigns, and developing marketing communications. The coordinator will assist in creating policies and program guidelines, track program data, monitor contractor performance, and report on program performance. They will also complete historical benchmarking, track natural resource usage trends for municipal buildings, and coordinate with stakeholders to develop and implement efficiency and conservation strategies. Additionally, the role involves developing educational materials, acting as a liaison with higher education institutions, and overseeing volunteers. Specific water responsibilities include coordinating water audits and incentive programs, overseeing the implementation of the Five-Year Water Conservation Strategic Plan, researching and implementing programs for water quality, conservation, drought concerns, and water source protection, and researching advances in water efficiency technologies. The coordinator will also investigate costs for integrating water conservation curriculum into the Denton Independent School District, identify grant opportunities, and manage licensed irrigators, water compliance coordinators, and interns. They will also develop and manage service agreements and represent the City on relevant local, regional, state, and federal boards and commissions.
