About The Position

Kleinfelder is seeking a Senior Water and Wastewater Project and Client Account Manager to join their New England Water Team. This role is crucial for identifying, proposing, and winning new business opportunities in the water/wastewater market. The candidate will act as a Principal in Charge/Project Manager, nurturing client relationships and managing complex, multi-disciplinary projects. The position requires strong communication skills, engineering, design, and construction experience, with a proven history of effective project delivery and client account management in the municipal water and wastewater engineering field. The candidate must also demonstrate leadership and direction to project teams, possess excellent organizational, communication, and technical writing skills. This position can be based in either Worcester, Massachusetts or Portland, Maine.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional and project management experience in a consulting engineering firm or related service.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical Engineering or related field is required.
  • Professional registration (PE).
  • Proven business development and project management experience in water/wastewater infrastructure with design consulting firms.
  • Business acumen related to project management, portfolio financials, and risk management.
  • Understanding of sales pipeline metrics and backlog growth.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Engineering, design and construction experience.
  • History of effective project delivery and client account management in the municipal water and wastewater engineering field.
  • Demonstrated experience of providing project and client leadership and direction to project teams.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and technical writing skills.

  • A Master's degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead major proposal efforts and develop client/project capture plans.
  • Participate in project scoping activities and proposal presentations.
  • Manage projects, present at technical conferences, and engage in technical committees.
  • Mentor staff and grow the team and work portfolio.
  • Build strong relationships and interact regularly with key clients, teaming partners, industry groups, and stakeholders.
  • Continuously interact with clients to assure satisfaction with Company services and work closely with project delivery personnel to ensure any service issues are identified and addressed proactively.
  • Reinforce collaboration and team building, ensure client focus, demonstrate commitment to excellence and innovation, and motivate others to ensure positive morale and engagement.
  • Provide input on business development priorities, budget, and expenditures for the water team.
  • Negotiate favorable contract terms and conditions and achieve cost of sales, gross margin, backlog, and other related financial and business goals.
  • Support the identification and mitigation of risks and commercial terms during the project lifecycle.
