About The Position

The role of the watch engineer is to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the hotel's power plant. This includes boilers, chillers, air compressors and related equipment; necessary to supply heat, air-conditioning, steam, water, and related mechanical services in sufficient quantities to meet the hotel's needs. It is also necessary for the watch engineer to have a NYC Refrigeration License and Operating License.

Requirements

  • Minimum five years hotel, commercial, or hospital environment experience as a watch engineer
  • Must be a team player and be engaging with guests and colleagues whilst working in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to work with the leadership team and take direction well
  • Must have good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must have the ability to anticipate the guests needs and go above and beyond to provide five-star level service
  • Experience on all types of HVAC and large mechanical related systems including electrical, steam lines and generators
  • Standpipe/sprinkler COF (Certificate of Fitness) from Fire Department
  • Skill in the use of hand tools, including pressure gauges, leak detectors and instruments for measuring air water flow
  • Ability to remain alert throughout the duration of the shift and remain calm during emergency situations
  • EPA Universal Certification for handling & Recovery of Refrigeration
  • Refrigeration Operating Engineer Q-01 and Q-99
  • Certification of Fitness, S12 City Wide Sprinkler System
  • Certification of Fitness, S13 City wide Standpipe System
  • Certification of Fitness to operate Air Compressor, 635 or most current type.
  • Certification of Fitness, S14 Multiple standpipe system
  • Category 7G cooling tower

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor all mechanical equipment.
  • troubleshooting, and repairing facility equipment.
  • Performing PM of equipment.
  • Overseeing outside vendors preforming repairs and maintenance of mechanical equipment.
  • Performing facility checks of all life safety systems such as sprinkler, generator, and fire extinguishers.
  • Maintaining a daily log sheets and check lists.
