About The Position

We are looking for a Watch Clerk to provide vital support services in our unique integrated service with the Strathcona County RCMP and Enforcement Services. In this exciting role, you’ll be at the heart of the action, providing crucial administrative and operational support to on-duty RCMP officers. You’ll work on a rotating shift basis, ensuring that our team has the information and resources they need. You’ll also get hands-on experience with various computer software programs, processing and maintaining investigation files, and making a real difference in the community. This position is part of Strathcona County Enforcement Services, an integrated public safety service that works in close collaboration with the RCMP, County departments, and external partners to support community safety, compliance, and enforcement. This posting is for 1 Temporary full-time position up to 9 months.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma with 4 years of related experience (policing experience is preferred)
  • Knowledge of Criminal Code, Municipal Bylaws, Traffic Safety Act and Provincial Statutes
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written), combined with good judgement, tact and discretion
  • Strong time management and decision-making skills with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to obtain RCMP Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance
  • Availability to work shift work (working 12-hour shifts with a combination of days/nights)

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary education or certificate in Emergency Communications and Response would be considered an asset
  • Proficiency in RCMP software programs (i.e. PROS, CPIC, JOIN/2.0, CIIDS, eCollision, ROADS) and completion of RCMP PROS End User Course and PROS IM is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist the RCMP General Duty watch members to monitor, input, retrieve, review, link, scan, audit, and update all operational occurrences as they occur; once police have attended, ensuring they are accurate and meet RCMP audit standards
  • Receive calls, create and distribute operational files on investigations which members are currently dealing with when required, including the preparation of court packages and pre charge packages
  • Monitor email queues for member requests, warrants, disclosure and release documents
  • Prepare and complete Police Access Tool (PAT) ticketing and update all necessary information on the collision report (TSS’s)
  • Assist with adding, modifying, removing and messaging on CPIC
  • Complete Child Family Services and Victim Services unit referrals on behalf of investigators
  • Assist Court/File Management, Municipal Police Assistants and other areas in the detachment as required
