About The Position

Parsons is looking for an Environmental Technician/Groundwater Treatment System Technician to work on a full-time basis in Ironton, Ohio. This role functions as a treatment system assistant operator for a 200 gallon per minute groundwater recovery and treatment system. The system utilizes physical and chemical treatment processes including aeration/pH adjustment, clarification, filtration, and activated carbon. The assistant operator will work closely with other operators to ensure proper system function and perform maintenance. Daily operations involve managing pumping and controls equipment, calibrating metering and monitoring devices, and conducting basic field laboratory tests. The role also includes monitoring and troubleshooting activities, sample collection, documentation, and preparing basic field reports. Additionally, the technician will perform support tasks such as lawn mowing, snow removal, vehicle fueling, painting, and assisting with subcontractors on non-routine projects.

Requirements

High School diploma, or equivalent, and typically 4+ years of related work experience, or a Associate's Degree in a related field with 2+ years of experience.
Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and maintenance aptitude/experience essential.
Minimum High School diploma, or equivalent.
Driver’s license in good standing and vehicle.
Basic computer skills and experience with email and Microsoft office applications (Word/Excel).
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds, work in confined spaces, and work under inclement weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

Experience with the operation and maintenance of chemical addition systems reactors, pumping systems, mixing systems, clarification and filter press systems is a plus.
Knowledge of automated control systems and SCADA is a plus.
Completion of a 40-hour HAZWOPER OSHA training course (with an annual 8-hour update- current preferred, expired acceptable) is preferred for industrial or hazardous wastewater operations.

Responsibilities

Function as the treatment system assistant operator for a groundwater recovery and treatment system.
Operate pumping and controls equipment.
Calibrate metering and monitoring equipment.
Perform basic field laboratory tests.
Monitor and troubleshoot activities throughout the Plant and collection system.
Collect samples and maintain documentation in record logs.
Prepare basic field reports of activities and findings.
Initiate basic reports and/or establish and maintain logs and records.
Perform non-treatment system related tasks such as lawn mowing, parking area snow removal, fueling of work vehicle, painting facility housekeeping pads, pumps, etc.
Work with subcontractors on non-routine projects.
