About The Position

As a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator with the Department of Human Services (DHS), you will help maintain the systems that keep Torrance State Hospital functioning safely and efficiently. Requirements

• Successful completion of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Trainee program and certification as a wastewater treatment plant operator for any class and type of plant; or Possession of a valid certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators as a wastewater treatment plant operator for any class and type of plant.
• Possess a valid certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater System Operators as a wastewater treatment plant operator that is equal to or greater than Class C, Subclass 2 (Fixed Film DEP certification).
• Possess an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
• Meet the PA residency requirement.
• Be able to perform essential job functions.
• Satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.

Responsibilities

• Operate switches, valves, pumps, chlorinators, and laboratory equipment to maintain proper water and wastewater treatment processes
• Collect required samples, perform daily water and wastewater analyses, and record treatment results for compliance
• Inspect chlorinators, repair dosing pumps, perform preventive maintenance, and complete startup and shutdown procedures
• Log water and waste production data, track chemical usage, and prepare information for required operational reports
• Follow safety procedures, maintain clean work areas, and identify and report unsafe conditions
• Clean work areas, paint, perform adjustments, and secure tools and equipment to maintain an orderly plant environment
