About The Position

Under direct supervision, monitors wastewater treatment plant processes; performs routine laboratory tests, and a variety of semiskilled and skilled tasks, including making repairs and adjustments to equipment in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant; and performs related duties as assigned. Requirements

• Graduation from high school or G.E.D.
• One (1) year experience in semiskilled construction work, equipment maintenance, industrial plant or process operation and/or industrial plant maintenance (for Operator I)
• Possession of an Operator-in-Training Certificate Grade I (or higher), issued by the California State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) must be obtained prior to expiration of the six (6) month probationary period (for Operator I)
• Must pass the examination for Grade I Certificate administered by the SWRCB no later than one (1) year after date of hire (for Operator I)
• Incumbents are required to obtain a Grade II Certificate (or higher), no later than two (2) years after attaining the Grade I Certificate (for Operator I)
• Possession of a valid Class “C” California driver's license
• Required experience in the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment plants necessary to obtain a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade II Certificate (for Operator II)
• Possession of a valid Grade II Operator’s Certificate issued by the California State Water Resources Control Board (for Operator II)
• Incumbents are required to obtain a Grade III Certificate (or higher), no later than three (3) years after attaining the Grade II Certificate (for Operator II)
