About The Position

Under direct supervision of WWT Division Operations Supervisors, performs maintenance, preventative maintenance and repair on mechanical and electromechanical machinery at all of the WWT facilities to minimize equipment downtime and cut costs with in-house repairs. The role involves understanding and operating equipment associated with a wastewater treatment plant, performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting equipment problems, and maintaining accurate records of equipment operations and repairs. The position also includes tasks such as completing circuitry installations, performing painting, carpentry, masonry, and cement work, fabricating and installing safety shields, dismantling and overhauling engines and pumps, planning and implementing plumbing changes, and purchasing supplies and equipment. The role requires maintaining a professional manner, complying with workplace health and safety standards, performing general grounds maintenance and snow removal, and assisting other maintenance workers as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.)
  • A minimum of 3 yrs. of demonstrated experience in carpentry, electrical, plumbing or related trades
  • CDL A with Tanker Endorsement OR must have learner's permit and attain CDL A with tanker endorsement within 4 months of employment
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job

  • Ohio Class I, II or III Wastewater Certification

Responsibilities

  • Understands and operates equipment associated with a wastewater treatment plant
  • Performs preventative maintenance on Division equipment and machinery
  • Troubleshoots equipment problems and takes necessary steps to correct problem variations
  • Inspects Division equipment daily (both visual and auditory)
  • Maintains accurate records of equipment operations and repairs (e.g., lubrication date, hours, run)
  • Expedites work orders and maintains records of maintenance work performed
  • Enters all data into City Works
  • Completes circuitry installations
  • Performs painting, carpentry, masonry and cement work
  • Fabricates and installs safety shields and equipment apparatuses
  • Performs carpentry, to include building studded walls and drywall finishing
  • Dismantles gasoline engines, pumps and other equipment and overhauls
  • Plans and implements plumbing changes around the plant
  • Purchases supplies and equipment as needed
  • Maintains a professional manner when interacting with both internal and external customers
  • Complies with workplace health and safety standards: wears required personal protective equipment; promptly report unsafe conditions; complies with all departmental, county, state federal policies/procedures/regulations and laws
  • Performs general grounds maintenance work and snow removal as needed
  • Assists counterpart, Central Maintenance Worker's on projects as requested
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned
