The City of Oxnard's Wastewater Division is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Wastewater Treatment Plant Electrician to join their dedicated maintenance team. This position is essential to maintaining the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the City's wastewater treatment facilities and collection system infrastructure. Working collaboratively with Operations, Collections, and Maintenance staff, the selected candidate will help ensure the continuous operation of critical public infrastructure that protects public health and the environment. Under the general direction of the Wastewater Electrical Supervisor and Senior Wastewater Treatment Plant Electrician, the successful candidate will perform skilled installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and testing of industrial electrical systems, motors, motor control centers (MCCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), instrumentation, and process control equipment. The position requires the ability to diagnose complex electrical issues, interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals, and perform work with a high degree of accuracy, professionalism, and attention to safety. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial electrical systems and a thorough understanding of applicable federal, state, and local electrical codes, including the National Electrical Code (NEC). They will demonstrate sound technical judgment, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with others to support reliable wastewater operations.
