Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • State-issued Industrial Wastewater Operator license (often distinct from municipal certifications).
  • Understanding of specific chemical hazards, safety data sheets (SDS), and OSHA regulations.
  • Safety conscious, 5S driven, and recommends safety corrections immediately.
  • Self motivated
  • Candidates must have a work authorization that permits them to work for ABB in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Manage oil-water separators, clarification systems, and chemical precipitation units.
  • Dosing neutralizing agents, coagulants, and polymers to handle highly variable influent chemistry.
  • Operate filter presses, centrifuges, and drying beds to safely dewater and prepare hazardous or solid waste for disposal.
  • Inspect production lines and coordinate with plant operators to manage sudden chemical or volume spikes.
  • Document discharge metrics to prevent costly regulatory violations and plant shutdowns.
