About The Position

The Wastewater Technician (Plumber) is responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of wastewater collection, sanitary sewer, and related plumbing systems. This role ensures wastewater infrastructure operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental regulations, plumbing codes, and safety standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 5 years of journeyman level plumbing experience
  • Valid journeyman plumber license (as required by state/local jurisdiction)
  • Demonstrated experience working with commercial or industrial wastewater systems
  • Knowledge of wastewater codes, environmental compliance standards, and safety procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications
  • Valid driver’s license (if required for site operations)
  • Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain access to a U.S. Army installation (base access) in accordance with applicable government/customer requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting government, industrial, or secure facilities
  • Backflow certification
  • Confined space training/certification
  • OSHA safety training
  • Experience with lift stations or small-scale wastewater treatment systems
  • Secret clearance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair sanitary sewer lines, wastewater piping systems, floor drains, cleanouts, lift stations, sump pumps, and grease traps
  • Perform inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of wastewater collection systems and associated plumbing components
  • Maintain and repair valves, pumps, backflow prevention devices, and wastewater treatment support equipment
  • Clear blockages using mechanical and hydro-jetting equipment
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections of wastewater systems to ensure proper flow and regulatory compliance
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings related to wastewater and plumbing systems
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wastewater regulations and plumbing codes
  • Respond to emergency wastewater system failures and environmental hazards
  • Maintain accurate service records, inspection logs, and work orders
  • Coordinate with facilities, environmental, and safety personnel to support operational requirements
